Rohbauwohnen Kreuzberg

with Yanik Wagner and Bruno Hansen, Berlin 2018
An atmospheric examination of the imperfections of an apartment as a self-observation of one's own living situation.

In spring 2018, the three of us moved into a flat on the 15th floor of a building designed by Werner Düttmann for the reconstruction of the Mehringplatz and built between 1968 and 1975. The flat was originally designed for two people and was handed over to us in an unrenovated condition: without plaster and with damaged flooring. It was precisely this raw initial condition that challenged us to become active ourselves. So, we developed a customised interior installation that enabled the three of us to live together as a community. The sliding wall redefined the atmosphere of the living space and, over the years, has also influenced our acoustic and visual memory of our time together.
