Research Project and Demonstrator for Flexible Living in a Prefabricated Building Type WBS70
As part of the Chair of Housing and Design Basics, RWTH Aachen University
with Florian Fischer, Reem Almannai, Robert Saat, Yanik Wagner, Marius Helten und Sophia Branz, Leipzig 2025-2027
A vacant residential building in Leipzig is creating a unique opportunity and will be temporarily occupied by test residents for housing research purposes. For this purpose, we are setting up a residential demonstrator in parts of a vacant WBS 70 residential building in Leipzig Grünau. The demonstrator is intended to implement the nucleus living concept in existing buildings for research purposes. This will be tested and evaluated over several months (in the summers of 2026 and 2027) with test residents.

In my research, I want to examine the openness/incompleteness of apartments and overlay them with relationship concepts. I am particularly interested in the concepts of structure, security, network, attachment, and boundaries in terms of the form of relationship and in the context of the type of housing.
